Every track is crafted as a journey, layered with cryptic messages and subliminal textures that reward those who listen closely. DJ Odyssey | Patrick Riser
Born in Greenville, South Carolina on February 4, 1973, Patrick Riser, known to audiences as DJ Odyssey, has spent a lifetime shaped by rhythm, creativity, and movement. His journey in music began at just 9 years old on two belt-driven turntables, sparking a passion that would grow into a lifelong calling. By the age of 26, while living in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, he expanded that passion into music production, developing the signature sound and style that defines his work today.
Raised with strong family roots and inspired by the people who helped shape his life, Patrick’s story is deeply connected to music, faith, and resilience. He is the son of Harry Sherman and Delores Sullivan, and the only child shared by both parents. His mother was known for her caring spirit and years of service as a caregiver and HUD volunteer. His father, Harry, is the founder of the country western group Rough Stock Band and a respected member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Patrick also comes from a large, faith-filled extended family with deep musical and ministry roots.
Dance has always been a major part of Patrick’s expression. He began dancing at the age of 4 and was inspired by his aunts, Mae Joyce Davenport and Patricia Riser, along with his grandmother, Helen Riser, who helped raise him for a portion of his life. To this day, he continues to bring energy and style through Poppin’, Lockin’, and B-Boying, blending movement with music in a way that reflects his personality and artistry.
Patrick’s sound is as diverse as his journey. His musical taste spans old school soul, Southern gospel, hip hop, blues, reggae, rock, heavy metal, trip hop, country, classical, breakbeats, and more. That wide range of influence gives his DJ sets and productions an eclectic, emotional, spiritual, and uplifting feel that takes listeners on a journey. In 2013, he launched his first recording studio in Logan, Utah under the name Riser 360 Edutainment, and in 2025 he evolved that vision into Kaleidoscope Minds Studio in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
The name DJ Odyssey reflects Patrick’s mission: to guide listeners through a raw, real, emotional, inspiring, and electric musical experience. Through Kaleidoscope Minds, he creates space for collaboration across genres and backgrounds, celebrating the beauty of diversity through sound.
